CRACKS

There’s a crack
Inside the view
Of my glass
Filled with this watered-down past
And the leaking begins

Cracks and holes
Don’t find healing alone
Often replaced by an attractive imitation
With better insulation
Yet when slammed to the bottom
The outcome is often
cracks, that leak everywhere

A puddle sits by my feet
And I resist smearing it on the floor
Like before, to cover the mess
My leaking gets everything wet

There’s another crack I know
in my soul
I’ve patched it up many times before
won’t you fill me up with more

Cracks and holes
Don’t find healing alone
Often replaced by an attractive imitation
With better insulation
Yet when slammed to the bottom
The outcome is often
cracks, that leak everywhere

this open space
it’s causing me to slip
spilling out
I can’t take another fix

Cracks and holes
won’t find healing alone
