“Vanity, vanity, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.”
- Ecclesiastes

“Praise God from whom all blessings flow.”
The pews and the altar are vanity.

“Praise Him all creatures here below.”
The bread and the wine are all vanity.

“Praise Him above, ye heavenly host.”
The preacher’s new outfit is vanity.

“Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
The prayers of the godless are vanity.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit.”
I praise You in the bar over 10 cent wings and lager.

“Blessed are the mourning –
I praise you in a funeral card, in neon lights and crosses.

“for they will be comforted.”
A picture of St. Christopher at a diner in New Jersey.

“Blessed are the meek –
And the dry mouthed friends of justice –

“Blessed are the pure in heart –
for they shall see our God.”
