ELEMENT(ARY)

We have taken the elements
we hold, loosely, the fire and water,
the wind and the earth are ours
to mend and watch over.

And yet, there is a loss
of control, of purpose, of strength
that causes us to look in not out;
to look under, and not above.

The children of the Messiah of Moses,
Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr. and the rest
have lost, have forgotten, have misplaced
Egypt, India, and Selma.

The cause of Christ has become a cause.
The movement of Acts has become a monument.
The beauty of Pentecost a color, a date,
a celebration of antique emotions on a single day.

Where are the motion-sensors for God's people?
The lyrics of motion, to propel theology to service,
membership to massive shifting, lovers to love
all who may cross their paths?

Ecclesia, the called out ones, not past tense
but present in our midst, constantly.
As a child called to dinner from a long day
the call is ever sounding, ever reaching out.

May the sun rise constantly on our identity
and set perpetually on the darkness of man
so we may move and live gracefully
while sin remains stationary and petrifies.

That was really cool. It's an expression of what I am feeling right now. There are 2 of us now.
