PARABLE OF THE DIRTY EAR
Rating: (1)
by chuck scott

Adam woke up one morning with an incredible pain in his right ear. The whole morning he kept clutching at his ear, occasionally sticking his finger in it, only to make it worse. In fact, when he stuck the finger in it was followed by a scream and the thought of never doing that again; which, of course, didn't stop him. "I need to go to the doctor," he thought as he fumbled around the house for his phone book. ...more
THE TRAITOR
Rating: (4)
by Bruce Jones

The dust blew up again, buffeting his face, stinging his eyes. He looked out from the doorway, glancing up and down the road. Still no sign of the old man. Fortunately, there was no sign of anyone else, either. It was a bit unusual for the streets to be this deserted, but he was grateful. He’d wait a few more minutes, and then he would leave on his own, and take his own set of chances. But for now he missed his friend. The playfulness that shone in the old man’s eyes when he spoke of even the weightiest matters. It was if the old man had a secret that colored everything he said or did. He had learned so much from the old man, and hoped with everything inside of him that he was still alive. ...more
HOW CAN YOU LOVE LORD?
Rating: (1)
by Seraphim de'Angelo

So the Light came to me. I saw Jesus walking through the darkness. He stood before me, and I turned away. “How can you love me, Lord?” I asked. “Simple.” He said. “Watch and learn.” He reached out His gentle, nail-scarred hand; He reached it out and into my chest. He pulled out my heart, and showed it to me. It was black, as black as death, as black as sin. And sick, cancerous with worms and maggots and words cannot describe the ugliness of my own heart. ...more
DEMYTHOLOGIZING DISNEYLAND
Rating: (1)
by Robin J. Dugall

As far as I’m concerned, Disneyland can close until they regain the mission they once had. As far as I’m concerned, let’s close as many churches as possible until we start to regain the passion that kindled the fires of heart of people who turned the world upside down centuries ago…let’s close as many churches as possible until we see the Spirit of God ignite a new fire which leads wandering hearts and lives into heavenly wonder, imagination and awe. ...more
IN THE LONE NIGHT WITH GOD
Rating: (1)
by Mark

In prayer and thought, in the darkness, alone with God, poetry are the words that speak the most raw and real. From the Speech of God my chatter was stopped. My sobered soul and stilled ears were made to listen. As I heard what I was reminded, I made it word. ...more
CLAUS?RUM?INATE
Rating: (2)
by Jared Griffin

Santa Claus is depressed. He dislikes his monotonous job, despises the children he is forced to serve, and cannot find a way out of his eternal, yuletide contract. At the beginning of winter one year, Santa makes a stop at a familiar cemetary to reflect on his life, his purpose, and the God he thinks has enslaved him. ...more
INDIVIDUAL EARTHQUAKES
Rating: (3)
by Steve Sparrow

A Story of Jesus 'I met the new dissident rabbi today, that all the temple officials have been talking about.' Jesus dissidence did him no favours back then, and as we explore what it means to be his followers, it often does us no favours now. Jesus spoke in stories, so that we would find and follow our own path, and as I seek that I path I often find confusion, and puzzlement, and easily forget the hope and joy to be found. Share in the story of a Jew who met Jesus. ...more
THE RED NEON CROSS
Rating: (10)
by Brian Petersen

Driving down a dark, lonely highway in the middle of nowhere, I am beset by an onslaught of neon. Fast food venders and gas stations hawk their products to weary travelers in this outpost of humanity. But like a sprite among them all floats the red neon cross. ...more
JACKSON, GOD, AND ME: A Meditation before Jackson Pollock’s Autumn Rhythm (Number 30)
Rating: (8)
by Murray Richmond

Sitting before Jackson Pollock's Autumn Rhythm (No.30) brings me closer the mystery of the unknowable God. It is a warm, beautiful November day in New York City, and I should be outside basking in the sun because my plane leaves for Fairbanks, Alaska in eight hours. Instead, I am sitting on a tan bench, inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, struggling to see the painting in front of me. ...more
GETHSEMANE
Rating: (8)
by Nathan Colquhoun

Tonight the journey of pain, suffering and death must begin. Jesus goes with his disciples to the garden of Gethsemane; the men that he has surrounded himself around constantly to this point. He then separates himself and takes along with him Peter, James and John to the place where he begins to pray. He is led to even move away from these three until it was just Him and God. We watch almost ashamed as we see Jesus cry out to God. ...more
