For those fans of The Walking Dead out there.

    Season 2, Episode 2

    Shane Walsh.
    Anti-hero or anti-villain?
    (or antagonist)?

    Are we posting spoilers here?

I think he's an antagonist but it's hard to get into the reasons why without spoilers. :)

We've got confirmation that the tv series isn't following the graphic novel story-line, so... no necessarily.

I'm still divided between Shane being either an Anti-hero or a Villain.
Go ahead with the spoilers! (Just give a warning first). :)

Wow, it took me a long time to get back to this thread. Spoilers abound in this reply. Stop reading now if you're behind on the show.

I'll focus on the TV show since I haven't read all of the comics. (There are some pretty big differences between the two anyway!)

    So far Shane has:

    1) attempted to sexually assault Lori. True, she fought him off before it advanced too far but I was _seriously_ disturbed by that scene last season.

    2) Murdered Otis. Yes, it was done to save Carl (and probably Shane, too) but that doesn't justify shooting someone in the leg and abandoning them to be eaten alive...and then lying about it.

I think of an anti-hero as a character who, while rough around the edges, is still basically a moral human being. My definition of "moral human being" does not include people who murder and/or sexually assault others.

I could see him being a villain, though.

Will try to come back soon to flesh out my thoughts. Running short on time today.

I'm leaning in the same direction as you are.

Share is either a villain or, possibly, an anti-villain.
    Anti-hero? Not really.

Wow, I've really neglected this conversation.

Once the second part of the season begins to air I will try to actually, you know, talk about it. :P

In the meantime, any thoughts on what has happened so far?
